Is there a Snowflake GUI other than Snowsight?
Snowsight is Snowflake's own worksheet interface, built for people who write SQL and hold a Snowflake account. Jet puts tables, forms and dashboards over the same data for people who have neither.
Do viewers need a Snowflake licence?
No. Jet holds the connection and people sign in to Jet, so someone who only reads a dashboard does not need a Snowflake account of their own.
Will this increase my warehouse costs?
Queries run on the warehouse you point Jet at, so you control the size and the auto-suspend. Choosing a small warehouse for team-facing screens keeps a shared dashboard from waking a large cluster.
Does it respect my Snowflake roles and grants?
Jet connects with the role you give it and can never exceed that role's grants. Row- and column-level permissions in Jet then narrow access further, per person.
Can I edit data in Snowflake?
Yes, where the connecting role has write access. Forms validate before the write and every change is logged, which is usually safer than handing out a worksheet.
Can I build dashboards without a BI tool?
Yes. Charts and metrics read straight from Snowflake, so people who would never be given a BI seat can still see the numbers.
