Overview

A Google Sheets CRM template is where many teams start: one row per contact, a column for deal stage and a few more for notes and follow-up dates. It is quick to set up, and it becomes hard to manage once several reps work in it, deals need history, and a manager wants a pipeline view that is not a filter someone forgot to reset.

This template keeps your Google Sheet as the place your contacts and deals live, and gives your team a proper CRM interface on top of it: a pipeline board, contact and company records, activity logging and dashboards. Updates in the app are written back to the sheet, so there is no migration and no second copy of your customer data.

Why use this CRM template on Google Sheets

Reps overwrite each other. In a shared sheet everyone can edit every row. The app lets each rep see and update their own deals while managers see the whole pipeline.

Stages and fields drift. Dropdowns and required fields in the app keep deal stages, sources and amounts consistent, so your reports stay accurate.

No activity history. Calls, emails and meetings are logged as related records on each contact and deal instead of being squeezed into a notes cell.

Pipeline reporting is manual. Dashboards built on the sheet show pipeline value by stage, deals closing this month and rep activity without a separate reporting tab.

Follow-ups slip. Workflows can remind a rep in Slack or by email when a deal has had no activity for a set number of days.

Template features

Pipeline board

Drag deals between stages on a kanban board. Each card shows amount, owner and next step, and every move is written back to the sheet.

Contacts and companies

Searchable contact and company records with related deals and activities on one page, instead of scrolling across a wide spreadsheet row.

Activity logging

Log calls, emails and meetings against a contact or deal with a date and owner, so anyone picking up the account sees what happened.

Sales dashboard

Pipeline value by stage, win rate, deals closing this period and activity per rep, calculated from your sheet data.

Follow-up reminders

Workflows that notify the deal owner when a deal is stale or a follow-up date passes.

Role-based access

Reps see their own records, managers see their team, and read-only users can view without editing. Permissions can apply to rows and columns.

Who is this template for?

  • Small sales teams running their pipeline in Google Sheets who need a CRM interface without paying per seat for a new tool.
  • Founders and consultants who want structure around contacts and deals while keeping the spreadsheet they already maintain.
  • Agencies tracking prospects and client accounts who need to give some people limited access.
  • Teams planning a move to a database who want to switch the data source later without changing the CRM their reps use.

How to set up your Google Sheets CRM template

Step 1: Connect your Google Sheet. Sign in with Google and select the tabs that hold contacts, companies, deals and activities. If you only have one tab, start with contacts and deals.

Step 2: Map your fields. Match the template's fields to your columns: name, email, company, stage, amount, owner and close date.

Step 3: Define your pipeline stages. Set the stage list the board uses and make stage a dropdown so values stay consistent.

Step 4: Set permissions. Create roles for reps and managers and choose which rows each role can see and edit.

Step 5: Turn on reminders. Enable the stale-deal workflow and choose Slack or email for notifications.

Step 6: Publish to your team. Invite reps to the app. The sheet keeps updating for anyone who still reads it directly.

Frequently asked questions

Is my CRM data moved out of Google Sheets?

No. The sheet stays the source. The app reads and writes the same rows, so there is nothing to migrate.

Can I use my existing spreadsheet layout?

Yes. You map the template's fields to your current columns and add any fields the template does not include.

Is the template free?

You can start from the template for free and customize it in Jet Admin.

Can I connect email or Slack?

Yes. Workflows can send notifications to Slack and email, and you can connect other tools through their APIs.

What if we outgrow Google Sheets?

Connect a PostgreSQL or MySQL database and point the app at it. The pipeline board, records and permissions stay the same for your team.
