What each plan includes
Community: a free license with an operating budget
Community is appropriate when the open-source content tools meet the editorial workflow. Free licensing does not pay for a server, backups, upgrades, or the site that renders the content. Decide who owns those tasks before calling a self-hosted deployment free.
Growth: pay for editorial capabilities and seats
Growth includes capabilities such as live preview, releases, and content history. An editor who needs those paid capabilities affects the license calculation; a visitor reading your website is a different kind of user. Confirm the CMS seat definition for the people accessing your admin project.
Enterprise: get a scope-specific quote
Enterprise adds requirements such as review workflows and audit logs. Ask for licensing, support, and deployment coverage together. Compare the quote against the actual approval process your content team needs, rather than an assumed number of website visitors.
Starter, Pro, and Business hosting
Starter sleeps when idle; Pro and Business are always on. Pro adds weekly backups, while Business adds daily backups and includes a second environment. These operating characteristics can justify a tier change even before an API allowance is exhausted.
How Strapi calculates your bill
Project cost = CMS license + additional CMS seats + hosting + extra environments + usage overages + selected add-ons. For Growth without add-ons, the CMS line is $45 + $15 × max(0, seats − 3). Do not add a paid license when Community already meets the requirement.
Cloud distinguishes API requests per project, asset storage per environment, and asset bandwidth per project. That distinction matters when staging environments duplicate media. Database entries and asset files are also different quantities. An image-heavy site needs a bandwidth estimate as well as an entry count.

On annual Cloud billing, Pro is $900/year and the extra environment is $600/year. Keeping CMS at $75/month adds $900 across twelve months, producing a known first-year subtotal of $2,400, or $200/month on average. The payment schedules differ; this is not a $200 monthly invoice.
Add-ons and costs beyond the base plan
Cloud lists API overages at $1.50 per 25,000 requests, asset storage at $0.60/GB, and bandwidth at $30/100 GB. As a simple full-block example, 100,000 requests above an allowance add 4 × $1.50 = $6. Confirm billing treatment for partial blocks. Cloud usage rates.
Growth lists an SSO add-on starting at $150/month, with further seat-related charges. Get the exact licensed-seat total before adding it to a budget. Plugins, migration, custom development, and front-end hosting are separate project costs. CMS add-on details.
Where Jet Admin fits alongside Strapi
Keep Strapi for structured content and its publishing lifecycle. Jet Admin can be considered for a separate operational app that uses approved data sources or APIs—for example, a support view joining customer records with content status. Test API permissions and write actions; do not bypass the CMS lifecycle by assuming direct database edits are safe.

Which plan should you choose?
Choose the CMS edition from editorial requirements, then choose hosting from traffic and operating needs. Community plus suitable hosting can be enough. Growth is justified by paid editorial features; Enterprise requires a quote. Budget a staging environment deliberately instead of discovering it after launch.

Can I self-host Strapi?
Yes. Self-hosting changes who pays for and operates infrastructure; it does not eliminate paid CMS licensing when those features are needed.
