What Retool is

Customization and design
Both let you customise components: spacing, text size, alignment, colour schemes, basic styling.
For custom components the approaches differ. Appsmith has a built-in Custom Widget that lets you write HTML, CSS and JavaScript directly inside the app, with third-party library support. Retool imports custom React components.
