Bolt Review 2026: Token Limits, Pricing, and Fit
Reviewed September 26, 2026. Research-based review of Bolt's official pricing — not a hands-on benchmark. Jet Admin publishes this comparison and is a competing product.
Bolt is an AI application builder: you describe what you want and it generates a working web application. Two details in its pricing matter more than the headline numbers. Pro tokens roll over, which is rare and genuinely valuable. And the free tier's "300,000 tokens daily" sits under a 1 million monthly ceiling — arithmetic worth understanding before you plan around it.
Bolt review: the quick verdict
| Strong reasons to consider Bolt | Trade-offs to evaluate |
|---|---|
| Unused Pro tokens roll over instead of expiring | Free tier's daily allowance is capped by a much lower monthly ceiling |
| Pro at $25/month is competitive for this category | Token consumption is hard to forecast before you build |
| Yearly billing saves up to 28% | Teams pricing is per member at $30 |
| Generates working applications, not just interfaces | Generated code still needs review before production |
No numerical score is given, because we did not run a scored hands-on evaluation.
What is Bolt?
Bolt generates full web applications from natural-language prompts, in-browser. Unlike front-end-only generators, it aims at working applications rather than components — which makes it a closer competitor to Lovable and Base44 than to v0.
Everything is metered in tokens. Understanding how tokens behave is therefore understanding Bolt's pricing.
Bolt's key features
1. Token rollover on Pro
Unused Pro tokens carry forward rather than expiring at the end of the month. This is uncommon in AI builders, and it matters: it means a quiet month subsidises a busy one, and you are not penalised for irregular usage patterns.
Across the credit-metered tools in this review series — Lovable, Base44, Stacker, Gumloop — rollover is the exception. It is Bolt's most concretely valuable pricing feature.
2. Full application generation
Bolt produces working applications in the browser, not only interface scaffolding.
3. A free tier with daily and monthly limits
Free includes 300,000 tokens daily against a 1 million monthly cap.
4. Per-member Teams pricing
Teams is $30 per member per month.
5. A substantial annual discount
Yearly billing saves up to 28% — at the top of what this category offers.
Bolt pros
Rollover changes the economics of irregular use
If you build in bursts — which most teams do — expiring allowances mean paying for capacity you never use. Bolt's rollover removes that waste. For a $25 plan, this is a meaningful advantage over competitors at similar prices.
The annual discount is real money
Up to 28% off is unusually generous. On Pro, that is a material saving if you are confident about a year's commitment.
A genuine free tier for evaluation
1 million tokens a month is enough to build something real and judge the output quality before paying.
Competitive entry price for full-app generation
$25 a month with 10 million tokens compares favourably against other AI app builders in this series.
Bolt cons and limitations
The free tier's daily figure is not what it appears
300,000 tokens daily reads as roughly 9 million a month. The monthly ceiling is 1 million. In practice you can spend at the daily rate for a little over three days, then you are done for the month.
Why this matters: the daily number is the one that catches the eye, and it materially overstates what Free provides. What to do: plan Free around 1 million tokens a month, not 300,000 a day.
Token consumption is unpredictable
How far 10 million tokens goes depends entirely on the complexity of what you build and how much you iterate. Nobody can tell you in advance, including Bolt.
What to do: spend the free million on work representative of your real project and extrapolate. This is the single most useful hour you can spend evaluating any token-metered builder.
Teams is priced per member
At $30 per member, a ten-person team is $300 a month before any usage considerations. Per-seat pricing is the cost axis that scales worst as teams grow.
Generated applications need review
As with every AI builder in this series, output is a strong draft rather than a finished product. Security, error handling, edge cases and performance warrant engineering attention before real users arrive.
What do Bolt users say?
We did not verify a current aggregate rating on G2 or Capterra for Bolt, so no score is cited. The figures above come from Bolt's own pricing page.
Worth noting when you do check: this category moves fast enough that reviews more than six months old may describe a materially different product.
Bolt pricing in 2026
Read from Bolt's pricing page on September 26, 2026. USD. Yearly billing saves up to 28%. Our Bolt pricing guide goes further into how tokens translate into real monthly costs.
| Plan | Price | Tokens | Rollover |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 300,000 daily, 1 million monthly cap | No |
| Pro | $25/month | 10 million | Yes |
| Teams | $30 per member/month | Per member | Yes |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom |
An illustrative comparison. Free gives you 1 million tokens a month. Pro gives 10 million for $25 — ten times the allowance, with rollover. If your free month runs out in a week, Pro is roughly ten weeks of the same intensity, and anything unused stays available. That rollover is what makes Pro better value than the token ratio alone suggests.
Jet Admin vs. Bolt: which should you evaluate?
| Priority | What to evaluate |
|---|---|
| Generating a new application from a description | Bolt — this is its purpose |
| Building tools over data you already have | Jet Admin connects to Postgres, MySQL and APIs directly |
| Predictable monthly cost | Jet Admin is flat; Bolt is token-metered |
| Irregular, bursty usage | Bolt's rollover suits this well |
| Large team of builders | Bolt Teams is $30 per member. Jet Admin includes unlimited users |
| Production readiness without a code review | Jet Admin's output does not require one |

When Bolt is the better choice
If you are starting from nothing and want a working application quickly, Bolt does something Jet Admin does not: it generates the whole thing from a description. For greenfield prototypes and validation work, that is the right tool, and the rollover makes it affordable to use intermittently.
Who should use Bolt — and who should compare alternatives?
Good fit: prototyping new applications from scratch; teams with bursty, irregular build cycles who benefit from rollover; solo builders and small teams at the $25 Pro tier.
Compare alternatives if: your data already lives in a database and you need a tool over it; you have many builders and per-member pricing would compound; you need a predictable bill; or you cannot allocate engineering review to generated code.
If your project is an internal tool over existing data rather than a new app, build it in Jet Admin and compare.
Bolt review FAQ
What does Bolt do?
It generates working web applications from natural-language prompts, in the browser, metered by tokens.
How much does Bolt cost?
Free with 1 million tokens a month; Pro at $25 a month with 10 million tokens and rollover; Teams at $30 per member; Enterprise custom. Yearly billing saves up to 28%.
Do Bolt tokens expire?
On Pro, unused tokens roll over rather than expiring — unusual among AI builders and one of Bolt's better features.
How much does the free plan really give me?
1 million tokens a month. The advertised 300,000 daily allowance is capped by that monthly ceiling, so you cannot spend at the daily rate for a full month.
Is Bolt's output production-ready?
Treat it as a draft. Security, error handling and performance warrant review before real users depend on it.
How does Bolt compare with Jet Admin?
Bolt generates new applications from descriptions; Jet Admin builds tools over databases and APIs you already have, on flat plans with unlimited users. Greenfield versus existing data decides it.
Read the monthly cap, not the daily one
Bolt's free tier is 1 million tokens a month regardless of the daily figure, and its Pro plan is better value than the token count suggests because rollover means nothing is wasted. Test with the free million before you choose.
If your requirement is a tool over data you already hold, try Jet Admin alongside it.
